Teagen,
I started writing this 2 weeks before your birthday. It has hit me like a rock, my little dainty thing you have blessed us for a year. A whole year. I remember going into the hospital and I remember your birth. So vivedly that I can smell the smells and hear the noises. I remember it so clearly, as if it was yesterday. You came into our lives and forever changed us. You reached the depth of my soul and you, you have made me a better person. My heart fills with joy and my eyes welp with emotion at the thought of all the happiness and love that you have brought to us. It is truly indescribable.
I yearn, I yearn to keep you young and innocent. I yourn for just a little bit longer. I yourn to hold you longer and rock you more. I celebrate, I celebrate a life, your life. I celebrate your growth and your accomplishments. I celebrate your health, lust and vibrancy. I celebrate your laughter and your smiles. I celebrate your cries and pouty lip. I yearn because part of me wants you to stay little forever. I celebrate because this means that you are one year off and one year closer to discovering all that life has to offer you.
A daughter, my daughter. That is what you are. A piece of my soul, moulded from the same inner linings. You are my daughter. The words mean so much to me. It is hard to explain the bond. I look forward to many a girly outings with you and many late night conversations about boyfriends, girlfriends and life. I look forward to raising a stong willed, independent daughter much like my mother raised me.
A year, it has come and gone. A year of growth and excitement. A year of mommy's, dada's and baba's(bubba). A year of eating, crawling and exploring. A year of relationships formed. A year of bonding between a little sister and big brother. A year filled with your favorite things; your baby doll, mirrors and balls. A year of love and laughter. A year of your arms hugging me as though it is the best thing in the world. A year of smiles that will melt your heart. A year of you. A year of everything that makes you who you are.
I look forward to all that lies ahead. I look forward to the first steps, to the conversations, to the days at the playground. I look forward to your first haircut and to your first swim lessons. I look forward to watching the bond with your brother intensify even more. I look forward to the giggles and cries. I look forward to it all.
I will never take for granted a day that you spend with us. I love you more than my heart allows. Thank you for blessing us and coming into our lives.
Happy Birthday!
Love,
Mommy
