so far behind.

It has been a busy week. Lots of changes in our little home. Many more to come in the upcoming months. Nothing bad. Just different. Life changes. You can't do anything about it. More on that in the upcoming weeks. But, for now, a few updates on our dainty thing.
Gosh, she is the sweetest baby ever. She is serious but funny.
You have to work to get a smile. You work even harder for a laugh. But, that 'gummy' grin will melt your heart in a second. She is quiet when she wants to be but will chat your ear off when she feels like it. Adam and I always comment on how her voice just sounds like a little girl. It is so sweet. So innocent. I just love it.
Eli is at camp DG and Papa this week so T and I are just hanging out. I really had a lot that I was going to get done but I find myself just laying and chatting with her. Soaking up all this special one on one time that has become increasingly harder to get.
She is still in my arms, all the time. We just make it work. Her second favorite place is her crib. She likes to just lay there and talk to herself or whoever will listed. She is almost rolling from her back to her stomach but has yet to make it all the way. She is content just lying on her side. Last night, she fell asleep for the first time on her back. Adam and I where shocked. I should have taken a picture.
We have been going to the pool quite a bit. It's good to burn off energy. Teagen comes along for the ride but sometimes gets cranky when it's super hot..
.can you blame her? She actually loves the water. Aside from our little 'water hose' incident a couple of weeks ago, she has done great! It appears to have caused no long term fear! :)

laughing teagen

here is to you megan and andy

the succession

Well, Teagen is now sitting, even if it is only for a few seconds. She really is growing so fast!
The placement
The release
The sit
The lean

Just because

She is so darn cute and such a willing photography subject.

(this one was with the point and shoot but gosh that bow is over-the-top-cute!

highchair

Tonight we put Teagen in the highchair for the first time while we were eating dinner. Considering the fact that she was ultra tired because she refuses to take a third nap, I think she did very well. I started Eli on solids so early(as per the recommendation of our ex-pediatrician) and I swore I wouldn't do it with T. So, I am waiting till at least 6 months and am going to skip purees all together. In fact, I am not going to do any grains until after a year. Forget the rice cereal!! I have been researching a lot and am still working on the game plan but I will update more on that as the time gets closer!!

YES!!!

I finally put Teagen in the backpack carry and she enjoyed it. Here is to getting some things done around the house while she is awake. On this particular occasion I got dinner made, the dishes put away, the diapers taken off of the line, the mailbox checked and the clothes changed from the washer to the dryer. She stayed very contently for over an hour...it was fantastic!

and just because

I think this picture deserves its own post!!!

top o' the list

She is getting to be so much fun as she is actually starting to enjoy things other than being held...although that is still her first choice!
Here are some of her other favorites...
The swing. She hated the indoor baby swing but she sure does like this swing. It gives me atleast 10 minutes!!
Her jumperoo. This is a go-to favorite although I think I was started to abuse it so we took a jumperoo detox and now she likes it again except when her brother swings her seat around like it's a freakin merry-go-round then we get unhappy baby...

The bumbo especially if we are outside and I put her on the picnic table and she can see everything that is going on!
Her little horsey blanket. A friend of mine gave this to her. I naturally didn't really think she would like it because Eli hated all blankets but I have been proven wrong. It really must be a gender thing.

HA!!

Do you think we look alike????
Check out the double chin action!!!

O.M.G.

FIVE MONTHS!!!! That is crazy. My little dainty thing is 5 months old. She is such a sweetheart and it has been so much fun watching her little personality grow more with each day. I am trying so hard to just focus on the small things. To not worry about milestones and such. To take a deep breathe of baby puke and relish every minute. It goes by all too fast and before I can blink she will be a little attitude bearing two-year old(not that I have any experience with that).  I am soaking it all up.

Without further rambling...
5 things you are dying to know about my five month old...

1. She loves every toy that her brother hated and hates every toy that her brother loved. She likes all the soft 'squishy' toys. The ones that wrinkle and crinkle. She also loves everything that she can get her little swollen gums on albeit a finger, spoon, straw, etc...

2. She is just about sitting up. So cute. With her 'fluffy cloth diaper butt' this is quite the accompishment.
3. She is sleeping so well through the night. I really hate to publish this as I don't want any bad juju coming my way but she is sleeping from 6:30-6:30 or later everyday. I "dream" feed her while she is still asleep everynight at 10 but I am sure I do this for my own good and she probably doesn't need it.

4. She has developed a better relationship with her carseat. We moved her out of the infant one some time ago but she has just gotten to the point where she won't scream or cry when we go somewhere.

5. She is teething. I thought she had 2 teeth but I stand corrected, it seems they have taken home in her gums once again. But she is swollen, cranky, and drooling like no other. Please just let those annoying white flecks pop through soon!
Notice the wet shirt, it gets changed atleast 4 times a day!!
** Above all, she loves her brother!!!
Except when he starts talking tools...

fun in the sun

We put Teagen in the pool sitting in her bumbo the other day and she loved it until her father threw the water hose over her head causing her to get bombarded in the face with water.
*note: Adam would like me to clarify that this was an accident

(this was right after said 'accident')

This is a picture of the little man at about the exact same age in the pool for the first time...too bad we don't have the pink pool anymore, it would have fit the dainty thing just perfectly!

better late than never

Teagen's four month stats:

Length: 24 1/4inches
Weight: 14 pounds 13 ounces
Head: 16 3/4 inches

brother-sister bonding

Eli and the little thing are so happy swinging together. Scratch that...maybe I am happy when they are both swinging at the same time. A period of peacefulness.  Teagen does love the swing. She is in the "i'm am not going to nap AT ALL" period so I am doing my best to entertain a way over tired baby and a very active toddler. We have been swinging. a lot.
** In case you didn't catch that...my little dainty thing has not been napping...at all. Zilch. Nada. Not even an hour. Nothing. It is bad, real bad. Night is doing great, knock on wood. Daytime, couldn't be worse. I thought I got lucky because last Monday she took two fantastic 2 hour naps followed by a short evening nap...it was picture perfect. It lasted one day. She has since not napped.
