bath time fun

I decided to put Teagen in the bath with Eli the other day. Adam wasn't too sure about this whole idea at first but he played along with it. It went great! Not as relaxing for Teagen as our usual soak in the tub but fun nonetheless. Eli was so sweet. Teagen just stared and smiled at him the whole time! It won't be our usual bath time routine but fun every once in a while. After it was all said and done and our little thing was out of the tub, Eli wanted to give her little tub a try.

pictures and such

I really don't have that many pictures of Teagen. Probably because 3/4 of her waking hours are spent in the sling slapped to my chest. That's how she likes it. A happy baby makes for a happy mom. So, that is how she spends her days. The pediatrician asked if I was doing tummy time(failed to mention that she is a tummy sleeper but that's a whole other blog) and I asked how could she do tummy time when she spends all day in the sling. She just chuckled and didn't ask much more. She knows me all too well! However, if I time it just right, when she is not too tired or too hungry, she will now lay on the floor and kick around for a little while. By a little while, I mean 5 minutes or until I walk out of the room to go to the bathroom or something. She is funny like that. She likes me right by her side. Lucky for me, her big brother is also like this. So I spend all day sandwiched between Eli and Teagen. When Adam got home from work the other day, I made him snap a couple of pictures.
Check out those beautiful blue eyes!
They will melt someones heart one day!

She's a mommy's girl!

Look at those rolls!
Itty bitty sweet feet!

What can only be...

Colic. I hate that word. Eli had it. Miserable. Screaming on end, day in/day out. I was determined to not have a colicky baby this go round. I am humbled once again. You can't make a path of the future. Otherwise, I might have chosen a different path. Not that I would, in anyway, change my sweet little dainty thing. (maybe just a little tweak!) Really, it's not that miserable. Miserable was how it was with Eli. No, this is just bad. Eli was colicky during the day, all day. This is more of a 2-3 hour cry fest. Commonly referred to as the witching hour. It happens, every night at the same hour. We are prepared but somehow highly unprepared. You can only take so much. We tag team. After the three hours, I nurse her and she falls right to sleep. Back to the angel that she is. She hugs you and loves you as if nothing ever happened. As Adams dad always tells him, "this too shall pass". Please, make it pass sooner rather than later!!
Funny though, I still wouldn't trade it for the world!

Oh. My.

I just realized that I am a babywearing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering mom. What exactly does that make me?
Hippie? Adam tells me I am not a hippy because I still wear deodorant and shave my armpits. Thank god.
Green Nut? Doesn't seem to collaborate with my big hunk-a gas guzzler sitting in my driveway. Although I try my hardest.
Crazy? I am a bit of that but still maintain my sanity(for the most part).
Myself? Yes, it makes me, me. I finally feel like myself. Weird, I know. I seem to have found my niche. I am comfortable, happy and blessed. What more could anyone ask for?
Why you ask did I just have this whole epiphany? Well, we were at the Dell Diamond today for a baseball game and I look over to see a mother breastfeeding her baby. Then, she whips out a cloth diaper followed by her handy dandy dirty cloth diaper bag to dispose of the dirty one. Afterwards, her daughter gets a little cranky and she pulls out a sling and starts wearing her child. The whole time I am staring at her(and staring, I do. It's my real downfall) in disbelief. This women must be a crazy, hippy nut case. Then, it dawns on me. I am just like that women. It was an odd moment of realization for me. One of those Oprah Winfrey, "ahh ha" moments.

Just a side note... Ten years ago, if someone had told my mom and dad that I would be a babywearing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, happily married mother of 2, they would have, no doubt, had a heart attack. Not to worry mom and dad, all those years of praying really did work!

Thanks Lindsay and Carson

I am sure one day Teagen will hate me for this but for now it is so cute and she doesn't yet complain so I am taking advantage of that! Thanks to my friend Lindsay and her mom for snatching Teagen some adorable bows for her hair!

Please play with me

Eli desperately wants Teagen to play with him. He is constantly bringing her toys or showing her new things. Here is how it went today:

A Day in the Sun

Teagen has been catching some rays at various playgrounds and parks this week!

She is contemplating the world in this picture!

Ahh yes!

Today I am vividly reminded of those colicky days with your brother. Those days when nothing works... not this, or this or even old faithful What I ended up with is this. Those memories came flooding back to me like a cold slap across the face. The days full of piercing cries, big pouty lips and puffy eyes. O, yes, I remember those days. But, just in case I didn't, thank you Teagen for reminding me. You have made your point. I will never forget.
Now, do your mama a favor and return to my bright eyed, smiling, cooing baby. Soon.

Fashion 411

In case you were looking for some spring fashion tips, Teagen has a few that she would like to share.

1. Go green.
2. Sometimes a great pair of shorts can really make your legs look good.
3. A nice pair of socks can complement any outfit
4. A cute tank really flatters your arms.
5. A simple T is sometimes a girls best friend.
6. Barefoot is best7. A pair of great capris is a girls best friend!
8. A cotton dress is always a great find!

Grainy but good

Sorry about the grainy image, but I still love it!

First baseball game

Teagen got to go to her first baseball game the other day at the Dell Diamond. Do you think she liked it?

2 months

What??? I'm 2 months old???

I'm gonna cry, my newborn isn't a newborn anymore. Today Adam told me she was no longer an infant but she is now a baby. Really? Can't I have a few more weeks? Months? Years?
In all honesty, I wouldn't change it for the world but you do cherish those first few months of life when time just seems to stand still. But, moving on. Two months. Man. It goes by. FAST.
As we delve into this second month of life, what is the little dainty thing up to?
1. She loves her bath time. It's usually just her and I, enjoying our quiet time as she soaks in a tub of lukewarm while while I massage her chubby growing legs. It is our peaceful time of the day.
2. She is a talker. When she feels like it, she will carry on a conversation with you.
3. She has her mamas(and brothers) facial expressions. Her little eyebrows move up and down as she chit chats.
4. She has the cutest little content stretch. Just before she dozes off into a heavy sleep, she will lift her arms, let out a big sigh, and then hug you. It melts your heart.
5. She is sleeping. Better. She moves. A LOT.
6. She still loves to be wrapped up in a sling. Only with her mommy. Daddy with Teagen in the sling, apparently not a winning combination.
Thanks Teagen for blessing us with 2 wonderful months. You have brought much joy into our family!

busy busy

Times have been so busy lately. With a growing toddler, a baby and attempting to get my photog. business up and running, life has been super busy. Teagen has been ever changing. She is getting her little personality up and going. She knows exactly what she wants. She gets this adorable smile of contentment when happy and a big pouty lip when not so happy. She loves to sleep and eat. Albeit she doesn't sleep much at night. We were on a great two day stretch and that appears to have ended at 1 this morning. She isn't hungry as she can easily go 5+ hours without eating but she just can't stay asleep. You really can't blame her because every time she sleeps during the day she has her wonderful brother either singing the la la song to her very loudly or attempting to put the pacifier in her mouth! I have pulled out all my tricks with no avail. As tiring as it is, I am enjoying every minute of it.
How can you resist such a sweet face?

Hook em Horns!
Cloth diapering is going great. Really not any more work than disposibles and way cuter. The only thing is that the clothes get a little tight in the rear end.
Endless conversations with her brother

Eli is trying to teach her how to suck her thumb...

too bad it hasn't worked yet!!!

Why

Why you ask am I posting this picture??

Well, this is what Adam came home to yesterday. My arms gave out, my neck hurt and I was just tired. I had worn her to sleep in the sling and eased her into the swing still wrapped up in the sling. She immediately woke up. So, I tried a new trick. I ran the vacuum. Immediate success. At first, I was vacuuming but when I was done, I just didn't want to turn it off. She was sleeping so peacefully. Dinner had to be made and a toddler entertained. So, for an hour that vacuum stayed on. And, a sweet baby stayed asleep.
